I’m sick...give me sympathy... right now, I feel totally and utterly miserable and wretched, not to mention antagonistic. I’ve been having the runs and vomiting the entire last night and now I feel like I’m going to kneel over anytime soon. Even typing becomes a chore when my head aches and my stomach feels bloated and uncomfortable. I even felt resentful of my doctor coz the medicine he gave me don’t really seem to relieve my discomfort. Thus the 48 bucks I spent was totally not worth it! I could have used the money to bet on Holland! T_T But I feel better after puking my guts out. Although there’s nothing left in my stomach to vomit anymore...
Supposed to meet J later at orchard... but in the condition I’m at the present. I don’t think it’s very possible. T_T Ah. *Sad* I want to meet J... I also want the One Piece CD she’s going to pass me... T_T
Side note:
I got the teaching job. MOE sent me a letter of acceptance yesterday. The money’s good and I can tell that my Dad’s pretty keen on me taking the job now. My brother on the other hand feels that I should continue with my studies. Myself, I’ve been feeling pretty ambivalent about it. But I think that I’m going to reject the offer to pursue my honours and try my luck again next year when I graduate.

i, LUCIFER by glen duncan
This one is pretty interesting. A biography of sort, written in first person mode. Old Nick is given a second chance at redemption, provided he can live out a reasonably blameless life on earth –in the body of Declan Gunn (a not very subtle anagram of Glen Duncan), a depressed writer interrupted mid-suicide. Even then, he’ll remain a human soul until the old chap decides otherwise. That is, no guarantee of rank. Old Luce has no intentions of following through with the deal, but decided that a trial run (one month in the body) wouldn’t hurt. Luce then takes this opportunity to tell his version of the story.
It’s really a pretty funny book although at times it is rather confusing. One moment, he’ll be talking about what it’s like to be human, and then he’ll lapsed back into memories of what it’s like in heaven “kissing the old man’s ass”(his words, not mine *grin*). Overall, the style of the book is very stream of consciousness-like. At times rambling, at times clear. His relationship with Raphael is another interesting aspect in the book. Heh. Maybe for those of us who like yaoi lah. But the relationship between Luce and Raphael is pretty interesting. =)
Old Luce becomes increasingly “human” towards the end of the book and the ending, though expected, is surprisingly bittersweet. Overall, not a bad read, though not my favorite genre.
Jinxed no more!
Haha...I finally won! Thanks to the Czechs! It's still kinda of a novelty to me considering the fact that I've only won one other time before this.
Oh well! Let’s hope my luck will last through the remaining matches! >_<

Jinxed!!
Damn it! England lost!! Am I a jinx?? J was even trying to persuade me not to bet on Czech Republic. T_T Maybe in future, I should just bet on the opposite side of the country I support! That way, I’ll be ensuring their victory! =_=
Why? Oh why must they lose in the penalty shootout!!?? T_T

Rev Moonie Crowned "Messiah"...
Remember the Moonies? Well, this time round, Rev Moon is honored at Hill Reception and crowned with the “crown of peace”!! Hahaha... talk bout being ridiculous... He claims to be a Messiah, even said that his teachings helped Hitler and Stalin to be “reborn as new persons”
This paragraph cracks me up no matter how many times I read it! Hehehe... It never fails to amaze me how people actually believe his teachings...=_=
Moon has claimed to have spoken in "the spirit world" with all deceased U.S. presidents, Jesus, Moses, Mohammed and others. At the March 23 event, he said: "The founders of five great religions and many other leaders in the spirit world, including even Communist leaders such as Marx and Lenin . . . and dictators such as Hitler and Stalin, have found strength in my teachings, mended their ways and been reborn as new persons."
This paragraph cracks me up no matter how many times I read it! Hehehe... It never fails to amaze me how people actually believe his teachings...=_=
Sistas Reunion
It was good. The last time the four of us went out was before Er Jie went to Scotland last year. Since then, it’s always been 4 minus 1. I’m glad all four of us can make it today.
Er Jie complained that I was cringing the moment I sat on his bike and he was not even moving yet. Haha... I have to admit that I’m a scaredy-cat. But his penchant for speed and squeezing in-between vehicles doesn’t help! >_< But Er Jie, I have to admit that you’re a skilled rider lah. I did mention to Xiao Si that I trusted your riding skills! =)
Spent the rest of the evening at Da Jie’s place, stoning, channel surfing, basically making fun of him while taking silly pictures of him and Mdm Wong with Xiao Si’s camera while we wait for Er Jie to collect his baby monster. Pretty uneventful though it was fun in an uneventful sort of way... haha...
I think I’ll go buy 4D with Er Jie’s baby monster’s license plate number. If I strike 1st prize, I’ll treat the whole kai......at S11. Hahahaha...

Hungry...
I’m hungry... hungry hungry hungry hungry hungry... T_T
Saw a roll of sponge (I think it’s for the fish tank filter) out on the dining table and thought it was a roll of bread. Ah. Something must be really wrong if I’m having such weird hallucinations... =_=
Can’t stop thinking of:
-Mrs Field’s cheesecake muffins
-Kenny Roger’s corn muffins
But now I crave for something salty...
*Goes off to cook noodles*

Internet Junkie
I’ve never realized how much of an Internet junkie I am. The past week when my baby was down was one of the most excruciating weeks I’ve ever experienced... J called, asking for the NUS dial-up number but ending up giving it to me instead. It was the light at the end of the tunnel for me man!
J!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Heh. If the Greeks do their jobs tonight, I’ll treat you to drinks! =)
I never thought I'll ever say this but...THANK YOU NUS!!

Hungarian Suicide Anthem
Gloomy Sunday
Interesting to note, Rezsô Seress himself committed suicide by jumping from his flat in 1968. Anyway, the song is something of a urban legend in the music industry.
So I guess cannot really blame the song ya?
Besides, I like the song...esp the Sarah McLachlan version.
Gloomy Sunday - the notorious 'Hungarian Suicide Song' - was written in 1933. Its melody and original lyrics were the creation of Rezsô Seress, a self-taught pianist and composer born in Hungary in 1899.
Interesting to note, Rezsô Seress himself committed suicide by jumping from his flat in 1968. Anyway, the song is something of a urban legend in the music industry.
Gloom, depression and suicide seem to be part and parcel of Hungarian culture. "You can hardly meet with a Hungarian who wouldn't have relatives or friends who really committed suicide - it's a kind of national disease, it's a kind of sickness," says Peter Muller, a Hungarian playwright who has written a play about Gloomy Sunday and has studied the suicide phenomenon.

Of waxy palms and sweaty knees
Dot gave me a lift home today and I had my first long bike ride through the expressway...the back of the aprilia was slopping downwards and frankly speaking, ridiculous though it sounds, I was scared of sliding off.
Dot just waxed the bike. My palms were gripping the tank so tightly that they felt waxy... Even my knees were sweating coz I was so afraid of sliding off the bike...but I have to admit that dot is skilled. Went damn fast on the expressway =_= but it was fun. haha...*weak laugh*

Call me the Black Hole!!
Woohoo!! Every single match I bought in the Euro 2004, I lost! Is it bad luck or what? Every match J bought, will win except for the ones bought with me! Hahahaha... is it ironic or what? =_=
Note to peeps out there: Give me a call to find out what matches I'm betting on. You guys can bet opposite me...just give me a cut of 10%. Your luck can't be worse than mine...

The Comeback Kid!!
France beat England
It's really incredulous... when France scored the first goal in the 91st minute, I was staring at the screen in disbelief! Then I went back to my room to mope and call J up to share the bad news. But when I heard my dad say "shit!", and found out that France won the match with another goal in the 93rd minute, my jaw just dropped! How can this be???
Zidane's really a world class player (according to me dad since I know nuts bout football). With a freekick and a penalty, he really shattered English dreams... Oh those poor English fans. I bet they felt as shellshock as I did...

Underdogs...
Ah. Greece won!! I was hoping for a draw... with an eventual Portugal win. But guess that didn't materialised. T_T
I lost $5 but will get a free drink from J so it all evens out I guess. haha...
But I really feel sorry for the Portugal team. Their fans looked so disappointed...
Oh well! I'll be rooting for Portugal in future matches!!
For now, I'm more interested in the Switzerland-Croatia and France-England matches tomorrow!
Go Croatia!!!

Glutinous Rice, Euro 2004, Air-conditioners…
Did a lot of walking today. I heard somewhere that the ideal number of steps a normal adult should take every day is 10,000. I wonder how true that is. But I think I really did hit 10,000 today. If not, it sure as hell feels like it! >_< Walking around in the humid weather, it made me realized the wisdom our Senior Minister Lee... he once said that the air-conditioner is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. I applaud the wisdom of this guy. =_=
Met up with J and went to eat Khoa Niew Mamuang at Thai Express just now. It’s just not as good as the one sold at Yhing Thai Palace though...*feels disappointed*
Argh... but the glutinous rice really expands once it’s eaten man... I feel damn bloated right now…. all the walking we did in search of a betting booth just now did nothing to digest the glutinous rice. I’m definitely not a football fan...but the excitement of the football match is sharpened by the prospect of either winning or losing money and I find myself watching the match avidly, even though I only bet a miserly $5.
The odds of Greece winning is 1:8.7...
I thought the Greeks can't play football... as it turns out, they actually topped their group in the qualifying run, even with Spain in the same group...and now, they are up one goal against Portugal.
Come on Portugal!! Fight back!!

Moonchild and Gackt sama!!
Just watched Moonchild...it's pretty rubbishy in my opinion...the plot is nothing to brag about nor was the acting anything spectacular... and you got to put up lousy Chinese pronunciation by the Japanese actors. Gackt was the only one of the Japanese actors who can pronounce Chinese perfectly. Wah! Gackt super impressed me. Not to forget the fact that Gackt was gorgeous!! And all the yaoi-ness in the movie is undeniable!! The combination of Hyde as the vampire Kei and our gorgeous Geckt as the street kid Sho was yummy...
One thing to recommend the Moodchild vcd was that the subtitles are in English!! And the subtitles are actually up to a certain standard this time round! *tears of bliss* Haha...J would be so happy to learn that the subs are in English this time round. =)
heh. Pictures of Gackt...I really think i have a weakness for pretty boys...

Khoa Niew Mamuang
I first ate this dessert at Yhing Thai Palace. Was reminded of it 2 days ago when I was at Suntac with J and saw a picture of it at some Thai restaurant. I can’t find any nice pictures so I guess I’ll have to settle for posting the recipe. T_T
*cries* I wanna eat it now!!!! T_T
Glutinous Rice With Mango
1-2 large mango (ripe)
250 grams glutinous rice (soaked over night or at least 4 hrs)
To boil, pour and steep in cooked rice
¾ cup coconut milk
¼ cup sugar
½ tsp salt
To serve with cooked glutinous and mango
¾ cup coconut milk +1tspflour (cook over low heat to thicken, remove keep aside)
Method:
Steam soaked glutinous rice until cook, in steamer for 30 mins (cook but not to soft). Blend coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a pot and cook over low heat until sugar dissolves. Remove steamed glutinous rice into a pot and pour coconut mixture and stir well. Cover pot and leave for 20-25 mins. To serve arrange mangoes one side of plate, and glutinous rice. Pour a little coconut milk on top.
*cries* I wanna eat it now!!!! T_T

Dislike
I think we all feel the need to lash out at others. I know I do. Sometimes in malice and sometimes in ignorance. I’m not proud of myself at these times but I guess it's human nature. The ugly side of human nature. When you don’t like someone, it’s kinda hard to hide your feelings. I found it difficult. I still do. Though I think I can control my emotions rather well these days. But I still feel the need to lash out sometimes, to hurt and to show my dislike. I wouldn’t want to spend more time than necessary with the person (sometimes, that’s something I can’t avoid) and when I see him/her, I just feel really antagonistic and go into my “black saizou” mode. Totally unlike my sweet normal self. Haha... it makes the group uncomfortable. It's not their fault that I'm an antagonistic little harridan. And I feel bad about making the group uncomfortable for something that's totally not their fault.
The heart of the question would be “why”. Why do I dislike some people and not others? I like to think that it’s a clash of personalities. But I have to admit that biasness and prejudice do come into the picture as well. I have a rather fixed set of social values, and I fear that I’m somewhat rigid in my attitude. Maybe the problem lies with me and not the other person. Whatever the case, I fear that my dislike of certain individuals won’t just go away, and I have no intentions of reversing my opinions. So, I guess I’ll just have to learn to mask it better from now on. I shall endeavor to be a diplomat! >_<

Justified??
Now, this is just too fucked up to be believed.
So what does it all mean? Is America immune to International laws just because of claims that it might, just might be unconstitutional to the American constitution? So the international laws are for everyone else other than the Americans? Hmmmm... what a strange concept...
R.i.g.h.t. Of course it’s necessary to torture prisoners and of course it’s self-defense to torture prisoners who cannot fight back. =_=
What bullshit!
Hmmm....I wonder what the 24 interrogation procedures are...*ponders*
In August 2002, the Justice Department advised the White House that torturing al Qaeda terrorists in captivity abroad "may be justified," and that international laws against torture "may be unconstitutional if applied to interrogations" conducted in President Bush's war on terrorism, according to a newly obtained memo.

What bullshit!
Pentagon officials said the group examined at least 35 interrogation techniques, and Rumsfeld later approved using 24 of them in a classified directive on April 16, 2003, that governed all activities at Guantanamo Bay. The Pentagon has refused to make public the 24 interrogation procedures.

Mindhunters

Mindhunters
Posted by Hello
PREMISE:
FBI psychological profilers, also known as Mindhunters, train seven of their newest members to track serial killers on a remote island. When a killer surfaces in their own ranks, their new skills are put to the test.
“The Point is, they’re isolated, alone and forgotten. That’s what it’s like to be inside the mind of a sociopath”.
Mindhunters was pretty entertaining in my opinion. It’s a bloody roller-coaster ride. The cast was all right… but do not, I repeat, DO NOT be fooled by the “big” names on the cover. I don’t think Val Kilmer’s screen time was even more than 5-10 minutes. So much for having his name slashed right across the bloody poster. Still, his presence was felt. Overall, gruesome and gory images aside, it was pretty entertaining. Definitely a show to watch if you’re bored out of your wits...
Alrighty! Time for yet another DVD.
In Pain
Ah. I must be getting old. There’s no other reason why I am reacting this way after yesterday’s training. Back in my teens, I can bounce back with no apparent effects the very next day. Ah...the vestige of time...

Secret Window

Secret Window
Just finished watching Secret Window. Always thought that it’d be a rather boring flick, but I’m watching it anyway coz it’s got Johnny Depp in it. But surprisingly, it was very much to my liking. The twist in the plot sort of reminded me a little of the Korean movie “A Tale of Two Sisters”, while the ending reminded me of a short story by Roald Dahl –“Lamb to the Slaughter”.
Guess I have a soft spot for unbalanced lunatics and morbid endings. Haha...
Alrighty now...time to start on another DVD.
Expectations kills...
Ah. Was kinda disappointed by the new Harry Potter movie. It just feels incomplete somehow. Like huge chunks were missing from the storyline and not adequately explained to the audiences. And the casting...=_= I’d always thought that Sirius would be more manly and Lupin would be more dashing, more Johnny Deppish. Or perhaps “raffish” as J said, would be a better word. But...that Lupin looks like a backcountry farmer with a weak chin!!! Oh what I'd give to see Johnny Depp cast as Lupin. Though that's not really very possible. =_=

Isn't he just adorable??
